Publisher Comments:

A new insight into the 1960s British recording groups, trios, and duos that helped shape the sounds of the sixties. This authoritative and meticulously researched work chronicles the stories of over 950 groups, trios, and duos who released at least one single in the UK between January 1962 and December 1966. The book includes more than 300 images, many of which are exclusive to this volume, and an index of nearly 1,700 referenced singles. For many of the groups, information includes where it was from, its members, and a brief history from its origins to its breakup. Other information includes TV, radio, and live performances. As a reference work for music of the period, this book will appeal to a broad spectrum of music enthusiasts.

About the Author

Bruce Welsh grew up in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canda. Influenced by many of the big name bands of the British Invasion, he began playing keyboards as a teenager in two local groups in the -sixties. Like many other musicians of the period he left to find a "proper job" but his love of music found him playing in a recreational group in the mid-seventies. It was the love of British sixties music that started him collecting and discovering a whole host of recording groups from the period who enjoyed varying degrees of success at home, in Europe and Scandinavia. Some managed to have their singles released in the U.S. and Canada. Bruce retired from the Provincial public service in 2008 and the following year began the research that led to the writing of this book. He currently resides in with his partner Jan and their beloved Cavalier King Charles spaniel, in Victoria, British Columbia.
