This is a simple book that captured my heart! Reading this was like a vacation, and I never wanted it to end. I bought six copies and gave them out to friends. It deserves to be recognized as a great book in the Puddly Awards.

This is a great story about surviving in a difficult and painful time. It has historical relevance but also a lot to say about the connections we make with each other and how important they are.

An excellent book--I couldn't put it down. The characters, and there are many, are all fascinating, odd, and true-to-life. The book takes place on the island of Guernsey, just after the second World War. It's the kind of book you hope won't end, and you hope the authors follow it up with a second one!
