Publisher Comments:

"This is a revealing exploration of a market in flux. "The Future of Men" looks at the important forces shaping men's present-day and future lives and draws conclusions as to how recent and current shifts are likely to influence men's behaviours and attitudes in this new century. The authors show that the new definition of male is a result of complex social, biological, and economic influences. Men are no longer a predictable market; their desires have evolved because of the shift in the balance of power between the genders, societal expectations, and their own freedom to test products and roles that were traditionally defined as feminine. What this means for business and culture is nothing short of a gigantic gender tidal wave; marketers, advertisers, and businesses across all industries - from automobiles to cosmetics - must understand the trends that are shaping this critical population if they are to stay in the game."

Synopsis:

Trendspotters and bestselling authors show how the role of men has evolved and what it means for business and our culture

Synopsis:

A revealing exploration of a key market in flux, The Future of Men highlights substantial demographic shifts and their impact—from the stay-at-home dad to the new macho revival. The authors draw on their expertise as top thought leaders from the advertising world—they were the ones to create the buzz around “übersexuals” and “metrosexuals”—to show that the new definition of masculinity is a result of complex social, biological, and economic influences. From automobiles to cosmetics to consumer electronics, this cutting-edge book explains how to tap the potential of the male market.

If we try to talking about sex, it also relate to gender. Man and his masculinity, feminin, and also trans-G. It's all mixedup in our society. I can't speak much things about "how is men should be" and "how the man might be" in this patriartical world. Because man had their own position in each different culture in the world. But one thing, this book was gave me a huge paradigm about mens culture, today. Although it's kinda different in my country (Indonesia), but for sure i believed that men would evolve to catch their own satisfaction, and left behind the classic mens prototype. Just like she said that we are more atractive, dinamic, and care about things outside of us and also inside of us.

-Rossi Prasetya; Indonesian collage student of Padjadjaran University (major:Anthropology) in Bandung.
