Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

A delightful telling makes this story of a greedy fox's adventure as catchy as a nursery rhyme. Crisp, happy pictures add to the fun. Inspired by an Armenian folktale, the rhythmic, cumulative text will have small listeners "reading along" and matching words to pictures well before the story is ended.

Synopsis:

After the old woman cuts off his tail when he steals her milk, the fox must go through a long series of transactions before she will sew it back on again.

About the Author

Nonny Hogrogian is a two-time winner of the Caldecott Medal. She was awarded the medal in 1966 for Always Room for One More and in 1972 for One Fine Day, the first book she both wrote and illustrated.

She started her career as a book designer, but soon began illustrating her own books. Since winning her first Caldecott Medal she has created an imposing list of outstanding books. Among them are Apples, a wordless picture book; Paz; About Wise Men and Simpletons, Twelve Tales from Grimm; Vasilisa the Beautiful; and Sir Ribbeck of Ribbeck of Havelland. The last two were A.L.A. Notable Books.

She is married to the poet David Kherdian. They live in an old farmhouse in Lyme Center, New Hampshire.
