Little Birds is a colourful collection of short erotic stories. On initial reading some of the stories seem quite perverse, Little Birds in particular plays with ideas of peadophillia, in that the male character enjoys exposing himself to young school girls. Depsite the fact that some of Nin's stories make for quite an uncomfortable read, each story is a beautifully crafted and deeply sexual piece of literature, suggesting an openess to new desires. Nin was writing at a time of feminine repression and was leading the way for female expression of sexuality.
