Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Ambitious in scale, highly original in both content and design, these popular works exhibit Brahms's mastery of the concerto. This single-volume, low-priced edition features the standard format for learning and practice. Reproduced from an authoritative source and perfect for concert pianists and students alike, it includes an orchestral reduction for a second piano.

Synopsis:

Ambitious in scale, highly original in both content and design, these popular concertos exhibit Brahms's characteristically ingenious thematic transformations, rich piano textures, and authoritative style. Enormously popular with the music-loving public (Schwann lists 17 recordings of the Concerto No. 1 and 49 recordings of the Concerto No. 2), these works are presented here as part of Dover's popular series of concerts featuring the solo part together with an orchestral reduction for second piano (the standard format for learning and practicing all concertos). Concert pianists and piano students will want to have this attractive, inexpensive volume, reproduced from an early edition, ideal for both rehearsal and recital purposes.

Synopsis:

Ambitious in scale, highly original in both material and design, these popular works exhibit Brahms characteristically ingenious thematic transformations and utter exuberance. Reproduced from an authoritative source; ideal for both rehearsals and recitals.
