"The Cambridge Companion to the Talmud and Rabbinic Literature" is an excellent introduction for the non-yeshiva trained student and the general reader. Fifteen international scholars, under the editorship of Charlotte E. Fonrobert [Associate Professor of Religious Studies, Standord Univ.] and Martin S. Jaffee [Professor of Jewish Studies, Univ. of Washington] contributed original articles to this fine guide.
