Read Susane Colasanti's posts on the Penguin Blog.

At the beginning of her sophomore year, Marisa is ready for a fresh start and, more importantly, a boyfriend. So when the handsome and popular Derek asks her out, Marisa thinks her long wait for happiness is over. But several bumps in the road—including her parents’ unexpected separation, a fight with her best friend, and a shocking disappointment in her relationship with Derek—test Marisa’s ability to maintain her new outlook. Only the anonymous DJ, whose underground podcasts have the school’s ear, seems to understand what Marisa is going through. But she has no idea who he is—or does she?

In Waiting For You, this third romantic novel from Susane Colasanti, Marisa learns how to “be in the Now” and realizes that the love she’s been waiting for has been right in front of her all along.

Review:

"Readers looking for light romance will enjoy Colasanti's (Keep Holding On) depiction of a long-distance relationship that beats the odds, even before it's officially a relationship. After meeting on the beach, Skye, a privileged high-school student, and Seth, a recent graduate whose father owns a failing roller rink, fall head-over-heels in love, but they part unexpectedly before exchanging contact information. A torturous year of separation ends with a reunion on the same beach, and it appears that distance has made the couple's hearts grow fonder. They immediately make plans to visit each other on weekends while Seth attends college in Philadelphia. What follows is a fairly predictable account of tested passion as Skye and Seth overcome hurdles to stay together. Although the two characters are well-defined, what they have in common is as vague as their understanding of each other. Seth never unloads the emotional baggage he carries about his parents' separation and his fears about his own future, while Skye remains preoccupied with concerns about her friends throughout most of the novel. Ages 12 — up." Publishers Weekly Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved.

Synopsis:

The Notebook meets Serendipity in this modern teen romance!

Skye wants to meet the boy who will change her life forever. Seth feels their instant connection the second he sees her. When Seth starts talking to Skye at the last beach party of the summer, it's obvious to both of them that this is something real.

But when Seth leaves for college before they exchange contact info, Skye wonders if he felt the same way she did—and if she will ever see him again. Even if they find their way back to each other, can they make a long-distance relationship work despite trust issues, ex drama, and some serious background differences?

I was excited to start this one because the cover looked so adorable and the synopsis sounded cute, I did like it but it didn't live up to my exceptions.

Told in alternating POV's between Skye and Seth.

Skye and Seth meet one summer at a beach party and instantly fall head over heels in love. They part ways after spending just two days together and can't seem to get each other out of their heads for the next few years.
When they bump into each other things resume as if they didn't go anywhere.

The characters were a little bit flat. Skye was whiny and annoying.

It was boring in some parts, maybe not boring but slow, it came to a standstill in the middle of the book. Along with the break, a three year time break, that made things a little confusing.

This was the second Susane Colasanti book I have read, the first being Keep Holding On, and while they were very different stories, I could definitely tell they were from the same author.

I think All I Need is a quick, fun, sweet summer read. Perfect beach read that's for sure!

Thank Penguin and NetGalley for this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
