Susan Dalby, February 6, 2009 (view all comments by Susan Dalby)
This is one of a brilliant series of ten books written for children but absolutely fantastic for adults who want to know more about how to understand and appreciate paintings and drawings of these famous artists. Each book profiles about 20 famous works with photographs and words in easy to understand language. Each book addresses the inspiration, the context, the meaning and artistic tricks used and preferred by the artist to achieve his unique effect. This is the first time I ever been able to have any idea of how to view an artist's work and now I see so much better what the fuss is about.
