This is a stunning book - full of breathtaking photography, astonishing bits of information, and concise organization. The photography is what initially drew me to the book. The cover is a jaw-dropping close-up of a white fox staring straight at you. I can almost feel how soft his fur is! The detail in the close-up photos lets me see so many of these animals like I have never seen them before.
Once I started reading the text I found it just as fascinating as the photography. Did you know that a hummingbird flaps its wings in a figure eight motion? That the call of a blue whale is louder then a jet engine? Animal Life reveals the unique physical characteristics of hundreds of animals and insects, explaining their classification and grouping. It then goes into depth about animal behavior uncovering the answers to many long held questions about why animals do the things they do.
Animal Life is an obvious choice as a gift for any animal lover, but its also a great splurge for yourself!
