A great take on the historical Elizabethan Era. The author intermingles a tale of romance with the deceitful doings of life at Queen Elizabeth's court. The reader is given a behind the scenes look at life in a royal court and how one couple manages to find some little piece of happiness, but with a steep cost. The characters are not romanticized or sanitized, but wholly human and hopeful.
A novel worth reading.
