Most people seek out help when they discover the death of a loved one, but Lucy is forced into solitude. Her mother is…or was… a hoarder who has made Lucy’s life unbearable and their home practically unlivable. Lucy has mere hours to do what she’s always done –take on the responsibility and protect the family’s secret from the world. Only now she has to do it alone…and with her mother’s dead body in the house. Cynthia Omololu brings us a courageous main character who has for years strived to portray a sense of normalcy to the outside world when her home life is total chaos. Tension mounts as the clock counts down the hours and Lucy is constantly under threat of discovery. But how can one girl tidy up decades of disorder? DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS descriptions of Lucy’s household are vividly detailed and haunting. While reading, I wanted to reach into the pages and find some way to help Lucy succeed in her difficult, no near impossible, mission.
