Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

The last 6 years has seen many advances in our knowledge of psychiatric illnesses. The DSM-IV Text Revision spans the bridge between DSM-IV "TM" and DSM-IV "TM" to ensure that the most relevant new information since the DSM-IV literature review in 1992 was incorporated and to enhance the educational value. Specifically, new information on associated features, including associated laboratory and physical findings, has been added for many of the disorders. Sections on prevalence, gender/age/culture, course, and familial pattern have also been revised to reflect recent research findings. More comprehensive differential diagnoses have been incorporated for many of the disorders.<P>Changes were to the following diagnostic criteria: Personality Change Due to a General Medical Condition, Paraphilias, and Tic Disorders.

Synopsis:

The "Quick Reference to the Diagnostic Criteria From DSM-IV-TR(R)" is a handy, low priced companion to the ultimate psychiatric reference, "DSM-IV-TR(R)." It includes all the diagnostic criteria from "DSM-IV-TR(R)" in an easy-to-use, paperback format.

In making DSM-IV diagnosis, clinicians and researchers may find it convenient to consult the "Quick Reference to the Diagnostic Criteria From DSM-IV-TR(R)," a pocket sized book that contains the classification, the diagnosis criteria, and a listing of the most important conditions to be considered in a differential diagnosis for each category.

This is a much needed resource for ANY counselor both in the office for assessments and court. The handy fold out classification sheet really helps new counselors, and those that need an easy refresher.

I can not count how many times it has come in handy during court. Using the "specifiers" has saved many from incarceration and allowed them to be placed in our treatment center.
