This book has an excellent mini-review of Ayurveda and the concepts of guna, dosha, rasa, vipak, virya and prabhava. There is also a good explanation on how to prepare herbs. Common herbs and Indian herbs are reviewed one-by-one. A good English and Sanskrit glossary at the end help the reading of the charts. This book is essential for anyone balancing their constitution. It's a book for beginners and includes spices, but it would have been nice to get info on Ashoka, Chitraka, Guduchi, Nirgundi and Tulsi. The listings of the dosha balancing properties are excellent.
