Nathan Winograd takes us back to the days when they drowned "excess" dogs and cats! This book tells the story of the struggle to make animal shelters in this country No Kill shelters and the barricades they've come up against. It's amazing the agencies that talk as if they care about animals, but sometimes their actions reveal their true side. All people compassionate about animals need to come together to make this a NO KILL nation and this book is leading the way!

I HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN THE ANIMAL WELFARE FIELD FOR MANY YEARS AND TOOK ONE OF OUR LOCAL SHELTERS TO NO KILL. IT WAS NOT EASY. THIS IS A WONDERFULLY COGENT DISCUSSION OF THE BIZARRE ANIMAL SHELTER POLICIES OF OUR SOCIETY. NATHAN WINOGRAD IS A HERO. WHILE READING THE BOOK, I WENT FROM ANGRY TO EXCITED TO SAD TO INSPIRED. IT IS A THOUGHT PROVOKING AND EMOTIONALLY GRIPING TALE AND A MUCH NEEDED EXPOSE OF A FAILED SYSTEM AND WHAT WE CAN DO TO FIX IT. I CAN'T PRAISE IT TOO HIGHLY.

Long awaited, and vitally important to the lives of our animal friends. The author is inspiring to those of us struggling every day to save the unwanted, the abandoned, the strays. This is a recipe of hope and solutions. You can make a difference in your community, too.
