Clockwork Princess is the fantastical conclusion to the absolutely amazing Infernal Devices trilogy. If you haven't read the first two, what are you doing?! Go read them! Spoilers ahead!

Tessa is engaged to Jem! Wonderful, sweet Jem- who is dying. Will just found out he's not cursed and can love Tessa without hurting her. His revelation comes too late. Will could never take her from Jem. The Magister, however, is determined to do just that. And he has a giant unstoppable clockwork army. The London Institute is in a desperate fight for it's life. I don't want to say anymore, you just have to read it! It's so exciting! I cannot find the words to express how awesome it is! Read it!

I don't understand why most people like the Mortal Instruments series better than this AWESOME trilogy. This trilogy is set in London in the 1800's following the story of a girl named Tessa, who comes to London and immediately falls in with the shadowhunters. Puzzled by Tessa's seeming lack of specific race, they study her and the trouble that seems to follow her. In the third and final book, Tessa is gearing up for her marriage to Jem, despite her equal love for Jem's friend and parabatai, Will. In the meantime, Gideon and Gabriel Lightwood are staying at the Institute after their father's demise-but can they be trusted? Cecily, Will's remaining sister has left her family to train as a shadowhunter. But why is Will constantly trying to send her away? It seems he would be glad to see the sister he would sacrifice everything for again. Wrapped in mystery and intrigue, Cassandra Clare writes a beautiful climax to her Infernal Devices trilogy. With an ending that no one will guess until they read it, and an action packed story this is definitely my favorite Cassandra Clare book. I love it!

I would say this is the best book of the Trilogy; however, if, like me you aren’t crazy about romances, there’s a little too much romantic agony and ecstasy; if you like romance and adventurous Steampunk, then this book is a win-win.

The love triangle continues with Tessa being in the unfortunate position of loving both Jem and Will. The reader is in the unfortunate position of liking all three characters. Gideon Lightwood, his brother Gabriel, and Will’s sister Cecily have become part of the institute, and they add new dimensions to the story. In the book, nearly everyone is in love with someone. Yay for love, boo for silly, stubborn misunderstandings.

From the beginning to the end, Mortmain, our evil villain in true Victorian style, plots and plans the destruction of the Shadowhunters. We have known from Clockwork Angel that Tessa plays an integral part of his plan. Finally, we discover his plan and her part. It really is horrifying. Clare does some fancy writing footwork to get them out of a doomsday scenario.

Clockwork Princess has adventure, soul searching, intrigue, betrayal, and many plot twists. I enjoyed the surprising moments when I wasn’t sure how Clare was going to write her way out of some difficult situations, but she managed to do so creatively. Along the way, there were some deaths and moments of realization for the characters.

As I said earlier, if you like romance, there was more than enough to go around. Almost all of the characters were romantically involved with varying outcomes. I really can’t discuss the end of the book without giving away far too much, I’ll just say that I found it surprisingly satisfying. I may have a romantic sentimental side.

I enjoyed this trilogy and recommend it to readers who like fantasy, adventure, romance, and Steampunk.
