Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Dayby Judith Viorst
Synopses & ReviewsPublisher Comments:He could tell it was going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. He went to sleep with gum in his mouth and woke up with gum in his hair. When he got out of bed, he tripped over his skateboard and by mistake dropped his sweater in the sink while the water was running. He could tell it was going to be a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.
It was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Nothing at all was right. Everything went wrong, right down to lima beans for supper and kissing on TV. What do you do on a day like that? Well, you may think about going to Australia. You may also be glad to find that some days are like that for other people too. Synopsis:Judith Viorst has been writing for the more than ten years that she has been married, with a lot of helpful encouragement from her husband and three sons. She loves children's books and tries to write books that her own children will like--and in which they will sometimes recognize themselves. Her husband is also a free-lance writer, and he works at home as she does. As one of their children once explained, My father is a typewriter, and I think my mother is too. One of the earlier books she produced is The Tenth Good Thing About Barney.
About the AuthorJudith Viorst was born and brought up in New Jersey, graduated from Rutgers University, moved to Greenwich Village, and has lived in Washington, D.C., since 1960, when she married Milton Viorst, a political writer. They have three sons and seven grandchildren. Viorst writes in many different areas: science books, children’s picture books, adult fiction and nonfiction, poetry for children and adults, and musicals, which are still performed on stages around the country. She is best known for her beloved picture book, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.
