Book News Annotation:

Morgan, an author and former diplomat, offers this historical account of Muslim contributions to the arts and sciences for readers who want to delve beyond contemporary Western attitudes about cultural differences. Islamic contributions in poetry, architecture, science and philosophy are analyzed in the contexts of technological achievement, the teachings of the Qur'an and influences on Western culture. A time line is included to summarize all of the major achievements and dynastic rules in the 1,400 years of Islamic history. Annotation ©2009 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
