Whilst many people know Jon Krakauer’s ‘Into Thin Air’, sadly a lot are not aware of the ten or so other books documenting the disastrous 1996 Everest season. ‘The Climb’ is the book the Anatoli Boukreev had to write in response to the harsh portrayal in ‘Into Thin Air’. ‘The Climb’ is a carefully written account of the season from Anatoli’s point of view and gives some counter balance to Jon Krakauer’s version of the events. A lot of people involved now look back on the fateful date and remember Anatoli as one of the true heroes of the day. For anyone who has read ‘Into Thin Air’ this is a must read to get a better understanding of what happened.

Mountain Madness - Robert Birkby
Touching My Father’s Soul - Jamling Tenzing Norgay
Doctor on Everest - Dr. Kenneth Kamler

High Exposure - " David Breshears
The Death Zone - " Matt Dickinson
