On the runway of life, Tim Gunn is the perfect life coach. andlt;BRandgt;andlt;BRandgt;andnbsp;andlt;BRandgt;andlt;BRandgt;Youand#8217;ve watched him mentor talented designers on the hit television show andlt;Iandgt;Project Runwayandlt;/Iandgt;. Now the inimitable Tim Gunn shares his personal secrets for and#8220;making it workand#8221;and#8212;in your career, relationships, and life. Filled with delightfully dishy stories of fashionand#8217;s greatest divas, behind-the-scenes glimpses of andlt;Iandgt;Runwayandlt;/Iandgt;and#8217;s biggest drama queens, and never-before-revealed insights into Timand#8217;s private life, andlt;Iandgt;Gunnand#8217;s Golden Rules andlt;/Iandgt;is like no other how-to book youand#8217;ve ever read.andlt;BRandgt;andlt;BRandgt;andnbsp;andlt;BRandgt;andlt;BRandgt; In the world according to Tim, there are no shortcuts to success. Hard work, creativity, and skill are just the beginning. By following eighteen tried-and-true principles, you can apply Timand#8217;s rules to anything you set your mind to. Youand#8217;ll learn why Tim frowns on displays of bad behavior, like the vitriolic outburst by Martha Stewartand#8217;s daughter about her motherand#8217;s name-brand merchandise. Youand#8217;ll discover the downfalls of divadom as he describes andlt;Iandgt;Vogueandlt;/Iandgt;and#8217;s Andrand#233; Leon Talley being hand-fed grapes and Anna Wintour being carried downstairs by her bodyguards. And youand#8217;ll get Timand#8217;s view on the backstabbing by one designer on andlt;Iandgt;Project Runway andlt;/Iandgt;and how it brilliantly backfired.andlt;BRandgt;andlt;BRandgt;andnbsp;andlt;BRandgt;andlt;BRandgt; Then there are his down-to-earth guidelines for making life betterand#8212;for yourself and othersand#8212;in small and large ways, especially in an age that favors comfort over politeness, ease over style. Texting at the dinner table? Wearing shorts to the theater? Not in Timand#8217;s book. Living a well-mannered life of integrity and character is hard work, he admits, but the rewards are many: being a good friend, being glamorous and attractive, and being a successand#8212; much like Tim himself!andlt;BRandgt;andlt;BRandgt;andnbsp;andlt;BRandgt;andlt;BRandgt; He is never one to mince words. But Tim Gunn is always warm, witty, wise, and wonderfully supportiveand#8212; just the mentor you need to design a happy, creative, and fulfilling life that will never go out of style.

A beloved television personality and fashion consultant offers a simple, accessible guidebook to help readers navigate all aspects of life. He dishes out frank, witty, and practical advice in a way that gives readers the feeling of a face-to-face encounter.

Synopsis:

Tom and Lorenzo began blogging in 2006 with a fansite for the show Project Runway. In response to demand from their readers, they expanded to cover celebrity fashion, couture, red carpet commentary and other TV shows and TLo (as their "bitter kittens" call them) has become a household name, reaching more than 4 million visitors a month.

Thanks to their biting, insightful commentary on celebrity style, they started getting sweet missives from pear-shaped ladies who needed a boost of confidence more than fashion advice. and#147;Every day, before you leave the house,and#8221; they instructed Lady Pear, after giving her some standard style recommendations, and#147;look in the mirror and tell yourself, and#145;Everyone wants to be me or do me.'and#8221; In this book, they explore the celebrity image and style culture with their trademark acerbic wit, from starlet meltdowns to publicity seeking pregnancies to red carpet disasters, along the way offering readers funny but inspiring takeaways and advice on understanding what consitutes great style and confident self-image: Know the venue, know the image you want to project, and sell it, sell it, sell it.

Brimming with insight, humor, and takedowns of the myths of the celebrity culture, this book offers the best of the friends readers want picking out their clothes every morning and gossiping over the newest issue of Vogue.

A zesty quick read by a writer that is not afraid to
put a burr under the saddle of rude people-many of whom
happen to be famous. I wouldn't call this
a highly crafted piece of writing but I enjoyed my time with it.
