Synopsis:

Perhaps the greatest physicist of the second half of the twentieth century, Richard Feynman changed the way we think about quantum mechanics, the most perplexing of all physical theories. Here Krauss offers a unique scientific biography: a rollicking narrative coupled with clear and novel expositions of science at the limits. An immensely colorful person, Feynman revolutionized our understanding of nature amid a turbulent life. From the death of Feynman's childhood sweetheart during the Manhattan Project to his reluctant rise as a scientific icon, Krauss presents that life as seen through the science.

Being involved in processes and computers for over 30 years, I thoroughly enjoyed being given a glimpse of the deeper worlds that the giants mentioned in this book have envisioned. To follow along with the barest of technical grasp as the author unrolled in clear, understandable terms the enormous puzzles these people waded and swam in all their lives was a thrilling ride, and I thank the author for putting it together in a way that wasn't intimidating or dry, as it easily could have been. I am currently finishing up my second time through it. I learn and understand so much more with each review. It is a fascinating peek into the world of the unknown, at the sub-atomic level, blended with views of the physicists as people, and how their endeavors shaped their lives, and vice verse. And, I expect I will go through it several more times for the revelations it so nicely details out.
