Publisher Comments:

In a ruined and toxic landscape, a community exists in a giant silo underground, hundreds of stories deep. There, men and women live in a society full of regulations they believe are meant to protect them. Sheriff Holston, who has unwaveringly upheld the silos rules for years, unexpectedly breaks the greatest taboo of all: He asks to go outside.

His fateful decision unleashes a drastic series of events. An unlikely candidate is appointed to replace him: Juliette, a mechanic with no training in law, whose special knack is fixing machines. Now Juliette is about to be entrusted with fixing her silo, and she will soon learn just how badly her world is broken. The silo is about to confront what its history has only hinted about and its inhabitants have never dared to whisper. Uprising.

Synopsis:

The thrilling eBookblockbuster that grew into a New York Times bestseller.

What would you do

if the world outside was deadly,

and the air you breathed could kill?

And you lived in a place

where every birth required a death,

and the choices you made could save lives

—or destroy them.

This is Jules’s story.

This is the world of Wool.

A masterpiece. As a long-time SF fan, I haven't been this caught up in a story in ages. Well-crafted story, real and complex characters, elegant writing. I'm very happy to have encountered the work of a writer such as Mr. Howey and his gripping tale of the silos of Wool.

This book hit me from left field, and it turned out to be the best book I read in 2012. The story is great and the characters are wonderfully written. I've been recommending this book to all of my family and friends. I'd rate this book six stars if I could. It's that good.
