I was so moved by the stories of these proud horses that I had to connect with the author, which I did. I wrote to Melanie Bowles asking for an invitation to visit the Poud Spirit Sanctuary. Unfortunately, they were moving the following week to Arkansas. Well, then I would have to go to Arkansas! Which I did with my husband. The Sanctuary is just that. A calm serene sanctuary of 320 acres. It is beautiful as are the horses and Jim and Melanie. This is a book of great feelings with emotional magnetism that makes the spirit soar. This book is a 'must read' book and should be read by every book club.
