About the Author

Saskia Wieringa is Director of the Aletta Institute for Women's History and Full Professor of Gender and Women's Same-Sex Relations Crossculturally at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Horacio Sivori is Regional Coordinator, Latin American Center for Sexuality and Human Rights, Rio de Janeiro State University, Brazil.
