About the Author

Yoshikichi Furui is one of Japan's leading literary authors of the last two decades. He received the prestigious Akutagawa Prize in 1971 and the Yomiuri Literature Prize in 1990.Meredith McKinney is a translator of modern and classical Japanese and a long-time resident of Kyoto. She now lives in Australia.
