Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Poetry. Although best known for his fiction--including important novels such as LITTLE CASINO, GOLD FOOLS, and MULLIGAN STEW--Gilbert Sorrentino is also a distinguished poet, the author of over eight volumes of poetry. The current volume reprints his Selected Poems 1958-1980 and includes 27 new poems and poem sequences published since 1980. Sorrentino's poetry is at once beautifully imagistic and filled with the magic of startling language. Taken together, these poems reveal Sorrentino as, perhaps, a major contemporary American poet.

Synopsis:

A new volume of selected poetry by the well-known American fiction writer and poet.

Synopsis:

One of the most noted of American fiction writers, Gilbert Sorrentino is also a brilliant poet, and has authored some nine books of poetry, including the renowned The Orangery, first published in 1978 and republished by Sun and Moon Press in 1995. This new volume of selected poems includes the poems of the Black Sparrow edition of 1981 and the numerous new poems written in the 20 years following that volume.
