Victorian Lace Today

Victorian Lace Today Cover

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Part project book and part history lesson, this unmatched collection of lace patterns offers techniques for embellishment and edging to shawls and scarves. The 40 projects are deciphered, rewritten, charted, and adapted for modern tools and fibers, and are presented with full-color photos and illustrations of both the works-in-progress and the finished items. Comprehensive information on the tools and techniques of lace knitting helps beginning knitters, and challenging patterns keep experienced and ambitious knitters engaged. Delicate and decorative, the historical lace patterns in this book are adventurous and dynamic.

This book is a must for any lace knitter. Great for summer projects. Very inspirational. I want to make all the projects.

This book has an extinsive collection of lace projects to do. They vary from beginner all the way to extremely advanced, although I would not recommend this book to someone looking for easy patterns. There are really only a couple patterns that a beginning lace knitter would want to attempt.

The charts are small, best to use a photocopier to enlarge them.

Warning: There are no written out patterns in this book, all the patterns are charted, so unless you plan to learn to knit with charts, this book would not be a good choice.
