Kells, March 25, 2010 (view all comments by Kells)
The Alchemist's Kitchen is Susan Rich's 3rd book of poems and definitely not one to be missed. It looks at the world through an artist's eyes, a writer, a photographer. It offers the reader hollyhocks and half moons, small trays of shimmering bees. Each poem is its own unique taste in this kitchen with "a plate of goji berries, pickled ginger, gorgonzola prawns/dressed on a bed of miniature thyme, a spoon/glistening with pomegranate seeds... As a reader, I was satisfied with each page as well as the book as a whole. The Alchemist's Kitchen is an incredible collection to add to your bookcase.
