This is an excellent book for learning about the ancient Indians of the Americas. The author, L. Taylor Hansen, has a talent for getting the Indians to talk about their sacred history. Where others have tried force or coercion, she has succeeded with a tender voice. Some book dealers have advertised this book as a Mormon book. That is not true. The author is not a Mormon. However, obviously these Indians are talking about Jesus visiting them sometime in the past. He corrects the Indians bad behavior. When he sees them killing each other, he heals their wounded and raises the dead and then says "Love your enemies." When he finds them offering children as sacrifices, he says that children should be baptized. He is the God of Love. When he tries to leave to go to the next village or island, they try to get him to stay, and He says "Other Sheep I have. I must leave the 99 and find the lost sheep." There are many direct quotes from Jesus. It is like reading a lab manual for the New Testament. She does not correct the English mistakes of the Indian story tellers, which sometimes makes it a bit hard to read, but other than that it is a very delightful book.
