This superbly illustrated book encompasses the breadth of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts collections of the ancient and modern world, excluding Canada. The nearly 800 works discussed—some previously unpublished—include the ancient art of Egypt and the Mediterranean; the heritage of Islam; the arts of Africa and Oceania; the Pre-Columbian world; and, notably, Europe, from the medieval period to contemporary times.
