The 67th meeting of the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives focused on safety evaluations of both these substances and foreign contaminants, and this report was commissioned by the World Health Organization to present the findings. This 2006 conference assembled research data on additives such as annatto extracts, lycopene synthetics and propyl paraben, using toxicological monographs to provide summaries of safety levels. Contaminants such as aluminum and methylmercury were also analyzed through the same testing protocols. Designed for food additive manufacturers, FDA regulatory officers and independent research laboratories, this book also summarizes the findings from previous meetings of JECFA.
