I was bored and couldn't really follow the story line. I don't see what the fuss is all about.

There are books that are so well written and completely absorbing that you know you've experienced something exceptional when you regretfully turn the last page. THE WESTING GAME and Louis Sacher's HOLES made the same impression on me; they transcend normal storytelling, challenge readers and introduce believable characters that you can not only relate to but care about. The Westing Game has been around long enough to stand the test of time and to have become popular as a text for entire classes to study. Instructors wishing to do this with The Westing Game can find all sorts of supporting material on the web that will enable students to explore and discuss the text. There's an excellent Thinkquest site and a Study Guide that can be found by Googling "The Westing Game." In addition, Raskin, a meticulous designer and writer, donated her manuscript, drafts and even designs for the original cover to her alma mater, the University of Wisconsin at Madison. The curators were concerned about visitors handling the documents but Raskin was adament about making them accessible to other budding children's writers and scholars. You can view these original documents and learn more about the author at: www.education.wisc.edu/
