A Pocketful of Python, Volume 1: Picked By Terry Jones Cover

Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

In October 1969 the BBC broadcast the first episode of a new TV series: Monty Python's Flying Circus, written and conceived by Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin. Over the years the six of them followed this with another 44 extremely silly episodes, a German TV special, five full-length feature films, seven books, nine long-playing records, and live stage shows that toured the UK and were seen in Canada and New York and at the Hollywood Bowl.

This new pocket series features the best of Monty Python: a collection of favourite sketches, gags, words, and lyrics chosen by individual Pythons. In this first volume, Terry Jones — writer, actor, and filmmaker — picks some of his prized bits from across the whole range of Python books, scripts and films. Included are such memorable moments as "The French Taunt King Arthur," the "Lumberjack Song," "What Have the Romans Ever Done for Us?," "The Court Martial of Sapper Walters," "Every Sperm is Sacred," the Man Who Talks Entirely in Anagrams, and other priceless pieces of Python humour. Included with these words are some two dozen images that have become identified with Python over three decades.

Synopsis:

Monty Python veteran Terry Jones shares his favorite bits from Python books, TV scripts, and films. Included are the classic "Lumberjack Song," "The French Taunt King Arthur," and "What Have the Romans Ever Done to Us?" Color illustrations by fellow Python Terry Gilliam.

Synopsis:

This new volume is the first of a series of pocket anthologies for which the Pythons have each made a personal choice of bits from the vast Python ouevre. It contains such classic favorites as "The Lumberjack Song," "Albatross," and "Spam," as well as some less familiar gems.

Synopsis:

With publication timed to tie-in with the 30th anniversary celebrations of the original Monty Python shows, this series of books features favourite sketches and memories from the series as picked by a member of the cast for each separate volume.
