The Healthy Pregnancy Cookbook: Eating Twice as Well for a Healthy Babyby Jane Middleton
Synopses & Reviews
When you're pregnant, eating right is more important than at any other time in your life. You want to eat the best foods, made from the healthiest and freshest ingredients, to benefit you and your baby. But what, exactly, are the best foods?
You know that it's a good idea to increase your intake of iron-rich foods during pregnancy, that folic acid can help prevent spinal defects and that oily fish helps develop your unborn child's brain. But you may also have heard that there are certain foods to avoid. Which cheeses are safe? Are you allowed to eat peanuts? Any why is there a problem with some seafood? To make it all the more challenging, there are some days when you're hungry all day long and others when you're feeling too queasy to eat.
This cookbook makes it easy to select the right foods. Filled with a range of recipes, you'll find foods that suit you throughout your pregnancy. Here are good-for-you foods that you'll really enjoy - lots of fresh salads; hearty and comforting main courses; clever, quick snacks; and tempting desserts. From simple soothing dishes like Rice with Celery and Parmesan to recipes with robust flavors like Thai Vegetable Wrap with Sweet Chile Sauce, there are plenty of foods to accommodate your appetite.
The recipes are filled with fresh, healthy ingredients - vegetables, herbs, grains, fish, organic meats and poultry. With recipes like Marinated Salmon on Wilted Greens, Thai Chicken Curry with Green Beans, and Butternut Squash Ravioli with Sage and Lemon Butter, you'll enjoy every bite.
Pregnancy is a joyful time of anticipation and excitement. You want to do all you can to ensure that your baby is healthy and thriving. Here's a book that helps you enjoy your life and your meals while you're expecting.
