Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Now in Paperback, the first book by the popular R&B singer Ashanti, winner of 8 Billboard Music Awards and 3 American Music Awards, whose #1 bestselling album is the fastest-selling debut of all time. Popular Singer: Ashanti's debut album, Ashanti, was released in April 2002 and went straight to #1 on the pop charts. At the same time, two songs from that album held the #1 and #2 spots on the U.S. top singles chart [she's the first artist to ever do this]. She is the fastest-selling new artist of all time with 750,000 records sold in the first two weeks. Ashanti also wrote a recent hit song for Jennifer Lopez, Ain't it Funny. Award Winner Singer: Ashanti's has won 8 Billboard Music Awards, 3 American Music Awards, and is nominated for 3 Soul Train Awards and 5 Grammy's! Original Idea: Instead of writing an autobiography or official fan guide, Ashanti is doing something original that can only come from her. She's collecting her favorite unpublished lyrics, poems, and journal entries, and writing down the stories behind them. All of these writings are about love and relationships. Ashanti's die-hard fans will know that only she could write this book--much like fans of Jewel knew they were getting genuine Jewel material when they bought A Night Without Armor. Author Will Promote: Ashanti is very excited about this book and is looking forward to promoting it. Aside from national media appearances, she's going to appear at several bookstores to sign books and connect with her fans. Ashanti's recent record signings have attracted thousands of fans, and she stays at them until every single record is signed. Tie-In To New Album: Ashanti's sophomore album [title tk] is due out in Jule2003--when our book will be in stores--from Def Jam's Murder Inc. label. The album will promote the book. The book will also tie-in nicely with the holidays, particularly Valentine's Day. Great-Looking Package: Foolish/Unfoolish will have a unique trim size and an all-around gorgeous package. Unfoolish is an incredible collection of reflections on love by the hugely popular 21-year-old R&B singer Ashanti. The book will include Ashanti's unpublished lyrics, poetry, and journal entries, along with commentary by Ashanti on what [or who] moved her to write each piece.

Synopsis:

Bestselling recording artist Ashanti stormed the pop charts with her debut album Ashanti, going all the way to #1 and staying there for 10 weeks, garnering legions of loyal fans and earning her the nickname the 'Princess of Hip Hop.' In Foolish/Unfoolish, Ashanti explores the same themes that make her music so real for her fans--stories of falling head-over-heels in love, becoming broken-hearted or insanely jealous, getting over it, and loving life. Spirited, moving, and filled with Ashanti's unique sense of humor, this collection of poetry and reflections will entertain and surprise as it offers an intimate look into the life of one of today's most popular performers.

Synopsis:

Now in paperback--published to coincide with the release of her new album--Grammy( winner and #1 recording artist Ashanti shares her very personal collection of poems and stories about love.
