Philosophy Dog

Philosophy Dog Cover

Staff Pick

I am a sucker for any book with pictures of dogs and this one is no exception. Philosophy Dog is photographed beautifully, and the stories in each chapter are heartwarming. While there is some helpful advice, it is not primarily a training book — buy it for the impressive photographs, which can be looked at day after day with a smile.

Publisher Comments:

Ever wondered what makes your four-legged pooch tick? Or eat your favorite pair of four hundred-dollar shoes? Or come when you say "sit?" Learn from veteran dog trainer Breon O'Farrell. Sometimes called the Dog Whisperer to the Stars, O'Farrell's method is a philosophy and process for owners to become the leader of their pack. He has worked with famous photographers, top executives, and celebrities. He has taught them how to train their dogs with simple, clear principles, easy for anyone to follow. Mixed with charm, experience, and anecdotal stories, Philosophy Dog is a book for new dog owners and long time dog enthusiast alike.

Contributing photographers include: Bruce Weber, Steven Meisel, Patrick Demarchelier, Herb Ritts, Ellen Von Unwerth, Mary Ellen Mark, and many others, making it a must have for any collector of fine photography books.

Review:

"There are two kinds of books in the dog section of my book shelves: the picture books that in all of photographic time have honored our worthy companions, and the books that speak their hearts, souls and minds. This is a delightful and smart combination of both: a book you keep returning to for the pleasure of the endearing photographs, and for wisdom when guidance is required." Sharon Beals, author of What Dogs Do
