Historian Lucy S. Davidowicz performed a mitzvah [good deed] by editing "The Golden Tradition: Jewish Life and Thought in Eastern Europe". Reading this glorious anthology brings to life a good part of the culture of the lost world of pre-World War II East European Jewry. It includes a bibliography.
