Publisher Comments:

Intrigue, mayhem, and murder most foul, Seattle has had more than its share of serial killers. First there was Ted Bundy, then Robert Yates, and then The Green River Killer. Now there's The Sandman, possibly the most sinister of them all.

The body of a young woman is found in an airport-area motel, one of those down-on-your-luck kind of places where no questions are asked and rooms are priced by the hour. She's been posed, naked, lying on her back with her arms across her chest mummy-style, on top of an undisturbed bed. Except for the body, the room appears neat and tidy. No obvious cause of death is evident, but the victim's clothes are missing. Karen Able, a recently-promoted detective on Seattle's very politically correct police department, is called to the scene.

Jon Kirk, a thirty-something star reporter for The Seattle Times, has recently written about two similar, unsolved murders, and with this third one he names the killer The Sandman because his victims seemingly just go to sleep without a fight. Jon and Karen have had a stormy business/romantic relationship that is causing both of them quite a bit of grief, but they decide to call an uneasy truce and work together to try to solve the mystery.

Forensic investigation eventually implicates Dr. Holyoke, a professor of anatomy at The University of Washington, because of his research into the nature and treatment of pain. But he's nowhere to be found. Then The Sandman contacts Jon directly to tell him that he has killed again. The story races toward its heart-stopping conclusion in a rush of non-stop action.

Cube 6 is a masterful first novel, a medical thriller that seamlessly blends disturbing insights into the hidden underside of medical research with humor, pathos, and a mega-dose of suspense.

Review:

"This debut novel dishes up a memorable cast of characters while exposing the seamy side of big-money medical research. Non-stop suspense." Ridley Pearson
