Synopses & Reviews

Synopsis:

Rashi, one of the greatest Jewish scholars who ever lived, had no sons, only three daughters. Much has been written about Rashi and his grandsons, the Tosafot, but almost nothing of his daughters. Legend has it that they were learned in a time when women were forbidden to study the sacred texts. Rashi's Daughters tells the story of these forgotten women.

Maggie Anton has written a historical fiction trilogy of "Rashi's Daughters" which places us in 11th century France and the family life of the famous Jewish Torah scholar, Rashi. We learn, not only history, but all about occupations and professions of those who lived at that time. Anton introduces us to four generations of Rashi's family, and we are immersed in their loves, sadness's, joys, and celebrations.
