Synopses & Reviews

Publisher Comments:

Only book to focus on sleep issues in pregnancy and early motherhood: Although there are many books on getting Baby to sleep, Sleep Deprived No More focuses on someone else who isn't getting any rest--Mom Sleep problems are a major health issue for women during pregnancy and post-childbirth, especially for working moms who must remain alert throughout the day. Organized by trimester both during and after pregnancy, this guide is straightforward, accessible, and easy to navigate so moms can quickly get the help--and sleep--they need.

- Highly promotable author: As associate director of the Sleep Center at Children's Hospital Philadelphia, Dr. Mindell is internationally recognized in her field for her expertise on pediatric sleep problems. Known as The Sleep Doctor, Dr. Mindell has her own bimonthly column in Parents magazine, where she will promote this book. She has been widely featured in media, most recently on NBC's Today and in the New York Times. She is on the advisory boards of the National Sleep Foundation, Johnson's Baby, and Baby Center.com.

- Sleep secrets for both mom and baby: In addition to erratic feeding schedules causing moms to lose sleep, there are many sleep issues specific to pregnancy and new motherhood, including restless legs syndrome, insomnia, sleep apnea, and more. Dr. Mindell gives moms the lowdown on how to catch up on sleep and stay focused throughout the day, even if you're waking up every few hours at night. Included also is expert advice on the best ways to get Baby to sleep through the night, making this an all-in-one resource (and perfect baby shower gift).
