This is a great product that does the important things just right!

It's deceptive: Can a foldable, compacted map that is deliberately simplified (in many ways) be helpful to the traveler?

The answer is a resounding Yes!

We spent 2 weeks driving through Oregon in 2002. (We're from Ohio.) This durable, laminated map folded easily for easy storage and retrieval and - most importantly - pointed us to great spots to experience.

On our road trip we kept
1) this NatGeo map handy in the front seat for a top-down view of the state, along with a
2) a thick tour book (like Moon Guide/Frommers/Lonely Planet for the big write-ups) and
3) a micro-detailed road and side-road map (like a De Lorme Atlas).
With those three tools in hand, we covered all the bases for a fun road adventure.

Pitfall: If this is your only road map, you WILL ask for directions.

Legacy: Back home, after the trip was over and done, we marked this plastic-coated map with a permanent marker to retrace our journey. Now we store it along with our photos in our travel memories. We were just looking at it last night. We're planning a new trip in adjacent Wash state, and expect to use those same tools again - Washington version.
