Flowerkeepingby Georgeanne Brennan
Synopses & Reviews
In this inspirational keepsake, Georgeanne Brennan and Kathryn Kleinman present an original approach to preserving and arranging flowers. Starting with Victorian traditions and techniques used to create wreathes, table decorations, wall hangings, picture frames, and other flower assortments, the authors move on to more recent techniques, describing waxing, sugaring, air drying, freezing, pressing, and using silver sand and silica. Tips and advice are complemented with superb color photographs.
-- Our first gardening book to feature the high quality full color design values of our cookbooks.
-- More than just dried blooms, classic and modern techniques for extending the life and enjoyment of flowers.
We were very impressed with Georgeanne Brennan when she wrote the THE CHILDREN'S KITCHEN GARDEN for us and we have been looking forward to working with her again ever since. Georgeanne's passions are gardening and cooking, and her enthusiasm is absolutely contagious. In this charming guide, she and photographer Kathryn Kleinman extend their love of growing flowers to preservation and arrangement. The practices of flowerkeeping (a favorite activity with the Victorians) have evolved with current technology and the authors show us the range of classic and modern techniques. They cover waxing, sugaring, air-drying, freezing, pressing, and use of silver sand and silica. The results can be arranged into everything from wreathes and table decorations, to wall-hangings and picture frames.
