Anything by James is worth reading. Ghost stories, interestingly, represent the only fiction he ever wrote. Living in the time when the best supernatural fiction was written, James doesn't have anything jump out at you from the closet/behind the door/tree in the garden. Instead, he takes you calmly by the sleeve, murmuring politely, and proceeds to scare the ever-living hell out of you. Not only does he scare, he informs; a rare thing these days.
