Van de Walle's Professional Mathematics #3: Teaching Student-Centered Mathematics is by far the best resource for instructional strategies that I've ever seen/used. We are going through this book right now, chapter by chapter, as an entire K-5 faculty at my school. Van de Walle is referenced in every Common Core Georgia Performance Standards unit for mathematics. The series is a tremendous resource for new teachers AND veteran teachers.
