"This is not a book about the decline of America, but rather about the rise of everyone else." So begins Fareed Zakaria's blockbuster on the United States in the twenty-first century, and the trends he identifies have proceeded faster than anyone anticipated. How might the nation continue to thrive in a truly global era? In this fully updated 2.0 edition, Zakaria answers these questions with his customary lucidity, insight, and imagination.

This book is awesome. It is a very intelligent take on the world as we know it and our place in it. It is timely considering the republican primary (and their cast of clowns), the tea-partiers, the OWS movement and where this election cycle is taking us. It is written for the politically savy as well as the political neophyte.
Fareed Zakaria was born and raised in India and has chosen to be an american, so he looks at our present, our past and our future without rose-colored glasses or nationalistic idiocy, but as someone in the midst of a long, healthy, happy marriage.
