Publisher Comments:

Environmental engineers continue to rely on the leading resource in the field on the principles and practice of water resources engineering. The second edition now provides them with the most up-to-date information along with a remarkable range and depth of coverage. Two new chapters have been added that explore water resources sustainability and water resources management for sustainability. New and updated graphics have also been integrated throughout the chapters to reinforce important concepts. Additional end-of-chapter questions have been added as well to build understanding. Environmental engineers will refer to this text throughout their careers.

Book News Annotation:

Over the past 34 years, Mays' (civil, environmental, and sustainable engineering, Arizona State U.) impressive career has included teaching at the U. of Texas at Austin and Arizona State U., publishing extensively in professional journals and books, and serving as a consultant to numerous national and international organizations. Suitable for use in first undergraduate courses in hydraulics, hydrology, or water resources engineering and in upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses in water resources engineering design, his text also provides a resource for engineering professionals. Featuring a remarkable range and depth of coverage, it offers up-to-date information on the water use and water excess management aspects of water resources engineering; water quality management facets are intentionally not covered in depth. The second edition contains two new chapters on water resources sustainability and water resources management for sustainability, as well as 300-plus new problems, and 50-plus new b&w diagrams, maps, and photographs to reinforce important concepts.
