Synopses & Reviews

Synopsis:

Mystery / 8m, 3f / Int. In this superlative mystery comedy statuettes of little soldier boys on the mantel of a house on an island off the coast of Devon fall to the floor and break one by one as those in the house succumb to a diabolical avenger. A nursery rhyme tells how each of the ten soldiers met his death until there were none. Eight guests who have never met each other or their apparently absent host and hostess are lured to the island and, along with the two house servants, marooned. A mysterious voice accuses each of having gotten away with murder and then one drops dead---poisoned. One down and nine to go The excitement never lets up in this ideal play for schools, colleges and little theatres.

This is without a doubt the best mystery book I have ever read. Ever since I finished it three years ago, I have been recommending it to friends. It will keep you guessing until the very end. Agatha Christie is second to none in creating suspense, endings with a twist, and extremely good plot and characters. I couldn't put it down from the minute I started it. If you are a mystery reader, this deserves a place on your bookshelf. The haunting poem from the beginning guides you through the story telling you of the "ten little indians" staying at a house alone on a island. This is one of my favorite books, and I have reread it several times! It's so good that I catch a new clue to the end each time I read it! Amazing story!
