About the Author

Debbie Stoller is the bestselling author of the Stitch'n Bitch series of knitting books and calendars. She comes from a long line of Dutch knitters, has a Ph.D. from Yale in the psychology of women, and is the editor-in-chief of Bust magazine. She lives in Brooklyn, New York.

This is a must-have for any knitter! Excellent for beginners and accomplished knitters alike! The only knitting book you will ever need. Well.....not really....but close!

I've heard some people put this down because they say there are mistakes with the patterns. I've seen yarn store owners roll their eyes at the very mention of this book.

But in the last 10 years, no book has been more influential than this one in getting people knitting.

It worked for me. I'd taken up knitting in high school, back when most of the yarn available was acrylic and needles were slippery metal jobs, so I stopped knitting when I went off to college.

But in reading Stoller's book, I rediscovered how joyful the meditative art of knitting could be, and I took up knitting again five years ago because her hip-looking patterns and love of the variety of yarns out there gave me back the knitting bug.

So thank you, Debbie Stoller. The knitting world owes you a debt for making knitting cool again. And hopefully more recent editions have corrected whatever mistakes there were.

p. s. If you like this book, check out her crochet book too. I could never get the hang of crochet before, but her directions made it easier.
