Getman's book is a compelling and heartfelt portrayal of the strike against International Paper in Jay, Maine that both united and divided the workers and community of Jay and Livermore Falls. Through his use of oral histories, Getman details seemingly every moment of the 16 month strike. The Betrayal of the Local 14 really gives voices to the people involved and lets their small town integrity shine. This book is a must read for anyone who has roots in a working class, especially mill, community.
