A classic for more than 20 years, this thought-provoking volume explores the role of Jewish women in the synagogue, in the family, and in the secular world. Greenberg offers ways to change present Jewish practices so that they more readily reflect feminine equality.

The founder of the Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance, Blu Greenberg, published the first book by an Orthodox Jewish woman to address feminist issues in the American-Jewish community ("On Women and Judaism: A View from Tradition") in 1981. Mrs. Greenberg's sensitive and thoughful comments on a variety of issues has aided in the formulation of an agenda for changes in the role of Orthodx women in ritual and cultural life.
